On graduating in Music & Drama from Royal Holloway, Anna-Helena became a principal member of leading experimental physical theatre company Gardzienice the Centre for Theatre Practices in Poland for 7 years.
Her performances included Metamorphoses & Electra (La Mama NYC 02/04; Meyerhold Centre Moscow 03; Barbican London 06). Creative Founder & Artistic Director of Moon Fool, Actor – Chorus – Text (ACT) and ACT Youth she leads international music & theatre exchange work worldwide. Anna-Helena previously worked as composer & ensemble trainer for Helena Kaut-Howsen’s Yerma with Kathryn Hunter in 2005, the outdoor physical theatre company Periplum on Arqieum (Royal National Theatre 2006), Company Collisions Nothing Left To Lose (London International Mime Festival 2007) and Cora Bissett’s Glasgow Girls Musical (The National Theatre of Scotland 2012).
She has been a core member and inaugurator of Swedish based The Awake Project, which premiered at Jackson’s Lane in London Oct 2011, while also touring Awake Love Orchestra and Awake Youth. She has been a guest director & trainer for BA & MA actors at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (formerly RSAMD) annually since 2004, as well as working in association with the NSD in Delhi, and drama schools and universities throughout the UK, Europe and beyond (incl. Yale, Columbia NYC, East 15, Central School of Drama, Uni of Kingston, Plymouth Uni, Exeter Uni, Royal Holloway, Brunel, Thessaloniki, Volda). Anna-Helena has directed adaptations of King Lear (Bangzed), Richard III for able and disabled performers (Aegis Productions) and Romeo and Juliet (ACT).
She composed and created a solo adaptation of Moon Fool’s ill met by moonlight for a tour of New York and Chicago in Spring 2012 culminating in the generation of a music album. Moon Fool also produced Day & Night (folk music collective) which performed concerts until 2013.
Anna-Helena led a module for BA and MA Actors at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland 2004 – 2013. She teaches part time at Uni’s, Circus and Drama schools across UK and abroad (including Winchester, Kingston, NSD Delhi, DePaul Chicago, Volda Norway). Recently voice coached on the National Theatre of Scotland Musical, Glasgow Girls (Stratford East Feb 2013) and toured her solo cabaret, Titania in Europe and USA while developing a new international ensemble production STORM, playing in Chicago this June. Anna-Helena freelanced as actor-musician in Penny Dreadful’s ‘How to be Immortal‘ (Soho Theatre), directed ‘Madame Butterfly‘ for Ignacio Joaquim Productions and was musician and singer in Mike Bartlett’s King Charles III in London’s West End 2014/15 while lecturing in Extended Voice at Winchester University.
